The Camile Conte Show #615 7-31-2020

Feeling horny? Me too and why not! It's the end of July already so blow man blow. In music news, Jagger, Blondie, Lorde, Elvis Costello and others ask Congress for some new rules around politicians using an artist's music. The new rule being, of course, that they have to ask first. The show has it's second Patron from Alaska. Thanks so much to Sue and Tom May, sponsors of this week's New Music Spotlight. Under that bright lights from San Antonio, The Last Bandoleros and from Perth, Tame Impala two new bands for the show. Plus a few thougths about acceptance and The World's Greatest Joke Teller sings a song before telling The Joke of the Week. Damn. It's a good one. Enjoy.

Here's the "In Loving Memory" event page. Please share this and help us spread the word.

The Camille Conte Show #613 7-17-20202

This week on the show CC narrates Bruce Springsteen, talks about sex, plays a lot of great summertime music, offers part two of "What They are Saying" which features artists like David Crosby and Buddy Guy this week who talk about the effects this virus has had on them and the music industry and of course, The New Music Spotlight featuring a new band for the show, The War & Treaty with their new song Five More Minutes and a dancer from Saint Motel and the latest tune called Preach. Oh, and you'll never guess who just put out their first ever (a band's first ever!!) line of deodorant? Oh the irony.

Turn it up!

The Camille Conte Show #612 7-10-2020

Happy Birthday Jack White, Joan Osborne and Robbie Robertson! Plus, The New Music Spotlight highlights two new bands for the show, The National Parks from Utah and from Maine, Ghost of Paul Revere and we welcome back from Brooklyn, The Lone Bellow. We also talk about the state of music five months into COVID. We can't live without music so that's our starting point. The question is, how do we do it safely? Chrissie Hynde, Bruce Springsteen, Steve Van Zandt and Southside Johnny, who is putting NJ on the map for the first "drive in" concert, share how they're feeling about things and when and how we'll make our way back to the shows. And The World's Greatest Joke Teller hits it out of the park with The Joke of the Week. Enjoy.

The Camille Conte Show #611- 4th of July 2020

America, America. You're very fabric allows us to stretch you into a new vision of liberty and justice for all. This is my 4th of July Show for this year in which, more than ever, we are realzing that democracy is never stagnant but rather a living, breathing tapestry whose threads are being rewoven into something greater. Our democracy is not stagnant nor does it belong to a few. It is in our hands right now asking that we see ourselves as the architects of a new America that lives up to its highest ideals and releases what no longer serves us.

Ray Charles, The Killers, Bruce Springsteen and others set the musical backdrop to this weekend. Plus, The New Music Spotlight shines bright on Drew Holcomb and the Neighbors and their terrific new tune, Family and Milky Chance teams up with Jack Johnson for their new collaboration, Don't Bring Me Down. And we wrap things up with my mom, The World's Greatest Joke Teller, whose presence in my days is deeply missed, with The Joke of the Week.

This land is your land. This land is my land. Let us join hands and tend to Her needs.

Peace Camille

The Camille Conte Show #610 6-26-2020 Willie Nile Interview

The New Music Spotlight takes over the show today with my interview with the great Willie Nile and his new album, "New York at Night." We cover a lot including the news about "Willie Nile Uncovered," a 2 cd tribute album coming out in August featuring Dan Bern, Nils Lofgren, James Maddock and a slew of other performers tipping their hat to Willie's songs. Along with the new tunes, The Backstreet Slide, Doors of Paradise and New York at Night, Willie talks about his 48 year love affair with New York City, what it's been like during the COVID lockdown, how respect for his fans (though he prefers friends) delayed his online concerts and how a can of Redi Whip inspired the new album's title track! This is so good.

Thank you so much Willie! Look for Willie's next live concert on July 9th.

The Camille Conte Show #609 6-19-2020

CC continues her verbal dissertation on Bob Dylan, whose new album, "Rough and Rowdy Ways" is officially released today. This, his 39th album on the heels of his 79th birthday keep this Nobel Prize recipient exactly where he's been all this time: in the history books. Speaking of history, Juneteenth teaches us more about this country's history and how the train of freedom is currently stopped at the station of justice. The New Music Spotlight offers us a really great summer song, Hang On from the band, NEEDTOBREATHE. And a very happy 78th birthday to Sir Paul McCartney. So glad he's still with us and still rockin' out! Enjoy.

The New Music Spotlight explodes with a brand new one from the architect of reggae music, Toots and the Maytals, "Got to Be Tough" their first new album in ten years along with Ray LaMontagne and his new one Strong Enough from the forthcoming album, "Moonvision."
